My favourite
The Razer Wolverine V2 is the favorite controller of Meinmmo author Benedikt Schlotmann. Now he is looking forward to the newly announced upgrade for the controller. With many improvements you would like to make the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 competition.
On the pc, I often and like to play with mouse and keyboard, yet there are games where I prefer to grab the controller. I took the new Dark Alliance in the coop with colleague Benedict and played here with the controller, because the keyboard control just feels terribly unfamiliar.
Meanwhile, I have different controllers at home for these purposes, but the Wolverine V2 has grown most to me.
That's what I like the Wolverine V2: The controller lies excellently in the hand and has Mecha-Tactile keys that feel unbelievably well. The keys give a clear, audible feedback and click pleasant and are noticeably precise. This is especially noticeable when you have to click the keys quickly and often one after each other. And these buttons give me at least a little little feeling to have mechanical switches as with a keyboard under the fingers.
I do not like that: Especially for small hands, the controller is little suited, because above all the special keys are very far behind. In addition, you can not remove the cable of the controller. Paddles do not offer the Wolverine V2, other controllers are better positioned here.
Razer now introduced: Razer has introduced a further development or a new model of Wolverine V2 with the Wolverine V2 Chroma. And the changes and improvements sound very promising in my ears. How well the Razer Wolverine V2 has liked, you can read in our detailed test:
Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma - The upgrade will make shooter players happy
Razer expands its Wolverine V2 Chroma with some meaningful functions and thus is closely approaching the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, which is considered one of the currently best Xbox controllers you can buy.
The highlights of the Wolverine V2, the Mecha-Tactile buttons and the control cross, are also back with Chroma controller. There are also a few more features that I would like to list here:
Razer Wolverine V2 vs Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma
Where are the differences to Wolverine V2?
The Chroma version offers a removable cable, but is still using only with cable On the back are so-called paddles that offer you 4 additional, freely assignable buttons. The Chroma Controller offers you a RGB lighting. You can configure and even replace the thumbsticks.
That's why I enjoy the improvements: Razer solves the Wolverine V2 Chroma two of my criticisms that I had to complain about Wolverine V2: On the one hand, you can finally remove the cable and Razer installed on the back Paddles.
What is preserved is the ergonomics of the controller. For my big hands, the ergonomics of the controller is optimal, but above all persons with small hands are likely to be not happy in the long run.
With the paddles Razer is likely to make shooter players happy, because in this way, certain skills or weapons change can be put on the paddles.
What could be a problem? At the current time, I can not give you any experience to the new paddles and how well these can be achieved. The special keys on the back were not easy to achieve at Wolverine V2.
In addition, the ergonomics is blessing and curse at the same time. I like the ergonomics with my big hands very well, my girlfriend was the Wolverine V2 too big and she preferred the normal Xbox wireless controller at the evening gambling.
There are already first tests? The Youtuber 9TO5TOY has already been able to test the controller and has compared the device with the normal Xbox wireless controller and with the Elite controller.
In his video he explains that the Paddle Setup of the Elite Controller fell significantly better. Because the paddles sit at the edge of the controller and that feel clearly more ergonomic than the paddles at Wolverine V2 Chroma. Because here are the paddles in the middle of the back. Above all, the feel and also the ergonomics of the controller like him.
The Wolverine V2 is a recommendation especially for gamers with big hands
Razers Wolverine V2 is mainly optimal for big hands and according to Razer, the dimensions of the controller do not really change. So if you have little, slim hands, then you probably will not reach all keys. At Wolverine V2, I made the test with my girlfriend who could not reach all buttons.
In the price, the Wolverine V2 Chroma is also quite self-confident. Because the price is only slightly under the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 with 159.99 euros, which you currently get for about 160 euros. Here, however, there is still a wireless connection that does not get to her Wolverine V2 Chroma.
For this, the Wolverine V2 with 270 grams is much easier than the elite controller, which brings at least 345 grams on the scales.
If you can do without RGB lighting, replaceable thumbsticks and paddles, I can continue to recommend the Wolverine V2 warmly. You get a high quality product for under 100 euros with many additional functions:

Nevertheless, in my eyes Razers Wolverine V2 Chroma could be a real insider tip for persons who like to play with Razer hardware and have big hands. If you missed the mentioned functions like Paddles, then you get a comprehensive feature epaker.
Other controllers can also be found in our buying advice around Controller for PC and Xbox. Incidentally, you will also find the Wolverine V2 as a recommendation for Xbox and PC players.
