Although it has some problems, Simpson Hit & Run has become a kind of classic since its launch almost 20 years ago. The game took the GTA Template and added the most dysfunctional family of the United States, creating a fun game that found a solid audience in PS2, Xbox and Gamecube, selling more than 3 million copies around the world.

Despite the obvious desire for a new version or sequel, and of the interest of the co-showrunner Matt Selman, it does not seem that we will receive a new delivery in the short term (Selman says that it is a complicated corporate octopus of trying to make it happen Apparently). That is why the Modder Reubs decided to take the matter in his own hands and recreate the game using Unreal Engine 5, with impressive results.

Using a tool created by another developer, Lucas Cardellini, Reubs exported the Springfield map of the original game to Unreal Engine, then used a combination of IA and manual effort to add textures. It was even as far as to enable the ray trace and extracted the audio from the original so that the characters could talk. Then it was set to program in all the elements of the game, such as collectible items, finally gathered the initial segment of the original game in a playable show.

So impressive was this feat that Joe McGinn, who was the main design of The Simpsons Hit & Run, published on the YouTube account of Reubs to say how much he loved the demonstration:

Hello, I am the main designer of the original game. Incredible what you achieved! It really gives an idea of what could be a complete modern remaster. Awesome work!

Unfortunately, it seems that Disney's lawyers contacted because Reubs eliminated the demonstration of his site. However, the reaction of the general public could convince people in charge of moving some threads and making a remastery, because there is clearly much demand.
