Electronic Arts: Fairer "Preview Packs" in FIFA Ultimate Team Fire sales

Electronic Arts' Offer of "Preview Packs" in FIFA Ultimate Team mode seems to have to be paid out: The format was "very well received by the community", so CEO Andrew Wilson at an investor conference (via pcgamer.com). EA has noticed an increase in access to access and the "conversion" in the corresponding area.

It should be remembered that the numbers were also influenced by the season end, but in this area further innovations around the offers on players can create to grow the business in the long term. The important "conversion" indicates the case when a user will only become a buyer in the offers.

The initially provided only as a temporary action "Preview Packs" can already be opened before the user decides to buy the revealed content as well. This better estimated investment has moved mostly many new players to the ecosystem of Ultimate Team and increases the "conversion", so Wilson.

The CEO is pleased about such "innovative and creative" species, to enable the player with profound employment with the company's products. The Preview Packs are one of the examples of this effect. So far, however, only one third of the player's FUT packages buy. 90% of the packages would be opened with "coins" earned in the game, instead of "Points", which can be purchased with real money.

In other important titles, EA has already made steps to give up the model of "prey boxes", the magazine. Finally, the legal proceedings and (planned) legislative changes would eventually accumulate. In the example of the Netherlands, however, annual penalties such as 10 million euros were practically only Peanuts: In return, the company has finally implemented 1.6 billion dollars (2020) in the field of "Extra Content Sales" during this period. Among them, the revenue from the Ultimate team areas of the sports game brands FIFA, NFL and NHL.
